The Skywalkers team had prepared an elaborate presentation that covered FIRST and its mission, and the different levels of tournaments – JFLL, FLL, FTC and FRC. They compared the types of projects and robots that teams build for these competitions.

During the presentation, the young kids took part in a quiz about the FRC robot, with questions such as “What does the robot weigh?” and “How fast does the robot move?”
While watching videos of FRC competitions, the kids asked questions such as “Are the robots running on their own?”, “Are the cameras like the ones on self-driving cars?”
Ms. Kang praised the team for working on such an exciting project and taking the initiative to share the knowledge with young kids to excite and inspire them. She said that she was working on providing the Skywalkers team with someplace in the city where they could test their robot while preparing for the competition.
Team Picture
Following the presentation were a demo and hands-on session with the Skywalkers’ FRC robot. During this, the young kids got a chance to watch the robot from up close, and observe how it was picking up the balls from the floor. They also took turns to control the robot using joysticks.
Robot Fun
EV3-based robots that performed some interesting tasks using touch sensors, ultrasonic sensors and light sensors. That caught the attention of the younger kids, who wanted to know more about the robots based on Mindstorms.
